Fish City Celebrates Double Success at 2025 Good Food Ireland® Awards

Straffan, Ireland – Fish City is celebrating a remarkable double win at the Good Food Ireland® Awards 2025, held on Monday, the 10th November at The K Club, Co. Kildare. The Belfast seafood restaurant proudly took home both the Tourism Sustainability Award and one of the evening’s top honours — the Supreme Award of the Year.

The Good Food Ireland® Awards, in proud partnership with FBD Insurance for the second consecutive year, brought together the very best in Irish food, drink and hospitality from across the island of Ireland. The awards recognise businesses that champion authentic Irish taste, local sourcing, sustainability, and outstanding visitor experiences — celebrating those who make Ireland’s food culture truly world-class.

Fish City received the Tourism Sustainability Award in recognition of its continued leadership in sustainable seafood practices, local sourcing, and innovative environmental initiatives. The restaurant’s commitment to clean production and responsible operations has long been a core part of its ethos.

One of the evening’s highest accolades, the Supreme Award of the Year, was presented to Fish City in recognition of its outstanding commitment to sustainable sourcing, quality, and innovation.

“A really proud moment for all of us at Fish City! …We’re honestly blown away,” said John Lavery, owner of Fish City. The restaurant extended heartfelt thanks to Good Food Ireland founder Margaret Jeffares and the international judging panel, as well as the Good Food Ireland team for hosting the awards. He continued, “Many thanks to our incredible team and to our lovely guests and visitors who make it all possible.”

Since opening its doors as a fish and chip shop in Ballynahinch, Co. Down and a seafood restaurant in Belfast, Fish City has been committed to sustainability, community engagement, and innovation in seafood dining. These latest honours from Good Food Ireland® reaffirm its position as a leader in sustainable hospitality and a proud ambassador for Ireland’s celebrated culinary culture.
